This civic festival highlights the traditions, stories, and artistic expression of Salem’s diverse communities through interactive booths, live performances, and hands-on experiences. Local cultural organizations, neighborhood groups, and resident collectives come together to share food, music, art, and heritage in a welcoming, participatory environment.

More than a celebration, Common Roots is designed to strengthen community identity and foster cross-cultural understanding—so residents and visitors can engage with cultures beyond their own and recognize the diversity that makes Salem unique.
